Kunstbibliothek
1The Kunstbibliothek (Art Library) has been at home in the Kulturforum since 1994. It is an interdisciplinary research institution belonging to the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin (National Museums in Berlin) and holds one of the largest museum libraries in the world along with prominent collections in the history of architecture, book art, photography, graphic design, and fashion. In its exhibition station, the Kunstbibliothek provides an introductory overview to the history of the Kulturforum located between the Landwehr Canal, Potsdamer Platz, and Tiergarten. The focus here is on both the effectiveness and ambivalence of the urban planning utopias that have shaped both the successes and failures of this special place as it transitioned from the old Tiergarten neighborhood to the Kulturforum of today.
