The St. Matthäus Foundation is a foundation under civil law. It is an ecclesiastical foundation in the sense of § 4Abs. 1 of the Foundation Law for the State of Brandenburg (StiftGBgb). The legal supervision is exercised by the ecclesiastical foundation supervisory authority. The foundation directly and exclusively pursues charitable purposes within the meaning of the section “Tax-privileged purposes” of the German Tax Code. The seat of the foundation is at the cathedral in Brandenburg an der Havel.
