As part of the “Utopie Kulturforum” series of exhibitions and events, the art library invites you to a panel discussion on the history of the Tiergarten district. Guests are Peter von Becker, Kirsty Bell, Nikolaus Bernau, Gabi Dolff-Bonekämper and Joachim Brand. The discussion will be moderated by Moritz Wullen.

The Tiergarten district, which was destroyed in World War II, was more than just the place of residence of the upper class. Art has been created, traded, collected, exhibited, communicated and critically reflected on here since the mid-19th century. This “Atlantis of Modernity” is still waiting to be rediscovered from image and text sources, architectural and urban traces and the recorded memories of its residents. With the largely repressed history of the place, the event also deals with the methods and the necessity of remembering.
